Christian Counseling in Grand Rapids

Christian counseling combines the principles of psychology with your faith to improve your relationships and mental health. Also known as Christian psychology or biblical counseling, this therapy approach uses biblical teachings and scripture to help tackle life challenges.

One of the factors that has greatly influenced my career is my conviction that there exists a loving God. My faith compels me to give and be selfless with biblical versus that say, “…as you have done to the least of these, you have done it unto me” (Matt 25). My passionate goal is to have a career that allows me to give of myself to someone else in need. I fully understand that my worldview is not to be imposed nor do I wish to do so on my clients seeking counseling. I also know that my faith-based worldview does incite me to innately elicit compassion to the individual who is before me vulnerably sharing his or her life. However, I do believe that being able to dissect psychological issues while considering faith-based implications, has tremendous value.

My personal world-view is that in the manner that we therapists restore value and self-worth to the client, we are equally upholding the client’s God given image in each session. If you have a strong faith and belief in God, this type of therapy will most likely benefit you because it centers on biblical teachings. The hope is that by sharpening your knowledge of the Bible and strengthening your connection with God, you will be able to turn your life around and conquer your problems.

My aim is to make all the mental health services I provide both accessible and affordable. I accept many insurances, and have variable payment options based on financial need. I also participate in community education efforts to reduce stigmas that pertain to mental health by engaging in multiple forms of outreach — from community suppers to free workshops.
